RESEARCH
My research explores how violence and corruption are portrayed in contemporary Mexican cultural productions. It examines literary depictions of state violence surrounding the 1968 Massacre of Tlatelolco, the ongoing repression of students and the rise of drug trafficking in the 1970s, the censorship and marginalization of narcocorridos by the Mexican government, and the satirical critique of Mexican democracy in Luis Estrada’s films.
